Taylor Swift is arguably one of the most well-known artists ever. Being well-known doesn't guarantee that everyone will be a fan of T Swift, though. As fans have learned, some people vehemently resist her catchy lyrics and prefer to bash on her every chance they get.
However, there are also surprising pockets of Taylor stans in the least likely of places, as fans were shocked yet delighted to find out.
Taylor Swift Fans Come In All Shapes And Sizes
Some critics like to say that Taylor Swift only appeals to a certain subgroup of fans, and it's usually some nonsense about them being teenage girls who appreciate that a lot of Taylor's songs are about relationships.
The thing is, though, that Taylor appeals to a wide variety of fans for a range of reasons. Since she started out a bit more country, then leaned more pop, and has since dabbled in just about every genre, practically anyone can find a reason to love Swift.
As it turns out, there's one group of fans that are unabashedly passionate about their love of the singer, and the other genres of fans were pretty tickled by the revelation.
Military Members Tend To Love Taylor
One fan of Taylor Swift jumped into the r/TaylorSwift community to share a screenshot from another subreddit that was equally as passionate about Taylor: the r/army subreddit.
Captioning their post with "an unlikely subreddit discussing Taylor Swift," the fan thought it hilarious that army members were discussing working out to Taylor Swift (or, alternately, Celine Dion).
For most people, picturing the US Army brings to mind tough military personnel in camouflage, barely cracking a smile let alone rocking out to 'Shake It Off.' It seems, though, that some military personnel have done exactly that; one commenter shared that they'd army crawled through mud while the song was playing, and they literally had to "shake it off" afterward.
Taylor Swift Has Other Unlikely Fans
Some commenters were tickled by the thought of tough military men (because most of the posters were guys) rocking out to Taylor, but others weren't surprised at all. One person reminded T Swift stans that Taylor is also "a big deal" with the US Marines; many hopeful romantics have invited her to the Marine Corps Annual Ball over the years.
Apparently Taylor's never accepted, but she has gone to prom with a fan before.
So why are Taylor's more socially accepted fan groups so amused by "tough guys" liking the singer? Probably because some of Taylor's harshest critics have been men in the industry, and it's not usually seen as "tough" to rock out to pop music that weaves tales about love stories, heartbreak, and queerness.
No one's complaining about sharing Taylor Swift with a few more fans, though.
